Description
These sessions are designed to be an introduction to the Latin language and the ancient Roman world. Over the course of the semester, we will be slowly acquiring the fundamental vocabulary, grammar, and historical and cultural concepts of Latin such that if you want to continue in the future, you are well on your way; and that if you do not, you have a good understanding of the way the language works and how it connects to our own language and culture. We’ll also try to have as much fun as we can along the way, so depending on your interests, we might look into Roman food, fashion, etc.
Textbook
There is obviously no assigned textbook for these sessions, but because a significant part of Latin is reading comprehension (and stories are cool), we will be looking at stories and getting to know characters from the following textbook starting in Week 2. In case you find you really like them and want to continue on your own, I’m including the link.
